Wood: our favorite choice
We often use wood both in the structure and in the exterior and interior cladding, as well as in the furniture, insulation, partitions… whenever we can!
Wood is an organic, recyclable, renewable material that is an excellent insulator, has great structural performance, does not emit toxic substances and, contrary to popular belief, performs well against fire.
Each cubic meter of wood absorbs approximately one ton of the greenhouse gas CO2. Wood is probably the only raw material used on a large scale that does not harm the environment. 63% of Catalonia’s surface area is forested.
Other materials
It is often interesting to explore other construction systems such as stone, ceramics, concrete… but also earth construction, adobe, hemp, lime concrete, etc.
We choose materials and construction systems based on what they contribute to the project in terms of materiality, but above all from a thermodynamic point of view.
