Passivhaus and bioclimatic architecture in Menorca
We develop bioclimatic and passive architecture projects, both in construction and energy rehabilitation, for housing, equipment, interior spaces and landscapes.
Passive architecture seeks maximum energy efficiency and comfort at reasonable costs; it goes beyond efficient construction and represents energy savings of more than 90% compared to a conventional building.
The construction standard Passivhaus provides us, in all phases of design and construction, with an objective, quantifiable and certifiable framework. In addition, due to their minimal energy consumption, the demand in the buildings Passive House can be easily powered by renewable energies.
What is bioclimatic architecture?
We understand that it is based on understanding, respect and sensitivity for the balances that sustain the environment. The one that holistically integrates the adequate attention to all of them and requires the least auxiliary energy to guarantee the comfort of the inhabitants.
Currently, the construction sector accounts for approximately 1/3 of global CO2 emissions. To reduce these emissions and meet urgent climate targets, it is necessary to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and implement renewable energies.
Passivhaus
Passive architecture seeks maximum energy efficiency and comfort at reasonable costs; it goes beyond efficient construction and represents energy savings of more than 90% compared to a conventional building.
The building standard Passivhaus provides us, in all phases of design and construction, with an objective, quantifiable and certifiable framework. In addition, due to their minimal energy consumption, the demand in Passive House buildings can be easily supplied by renewable energies.
We are Passive House designers certified by the Passivhaus Institute. Our designs offer high energy efficiency and a minimal ecological footprint, both in refurbishment and new construction. Passivhaus certification is considered the most ambitious building standard for energy efficiency worldwide.
Sustainability: Our architecture is based on a deep knowledge and connection with the environment. The goal is to build spaces with maximum comfort and minimal (or no) dependence on additional energy (heating, cooling, etc.). Whenever possible, we use bio-construction solutions to reduce the ecological footprint.
Savings: The energy demand of a passive house is so low that the savings in energy consumption can be up to 90% lower than in conventional construction.
Quality: From the first day, the end user knows, controls and has the guarantee of the energy consumption of his home. During the design phase, the project is modeled with specific software; during construction, rigorous on-site supervision is carried out and, upon completion, the airtightness is measured by means of the Blower Door test. During the first three years, indoor conditions (air quality, temperature and humidity) are monitored.
Health and comfort: The user’s well-being is the priority in our projects. Thanks to the high insulation and airtight construction, an exceptionally quiet interior is achieved, as well as the best thermal conditions (constant and homogeneous temperature without unpleasant drafts). The indoor temperature is maintained in a comfortable range both day and night, all year round. Air quality is ensured by a highly efficient mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, controlled by CO₂ probes.
