‘MARKET IN ALCANAR’.

Market in Alcanar’ is the proposal to develop a new market and goods exchange platform.

Alcanar, Tarragona. Spain 2009

Market management as something more.

The project seeks to create a central, compact and orderly "plaza".

The compactness of the space qualifies the installation, bringing together the program around

Several 'patios' of light (climatic) and on the edge of the building, both exterior and interior for the user to brush the outside and the sensations in the use of the rooms, so that it resembles as much as possible to be in an exterior. space.

These routes function as a sensory journey, fasting from cross visions, to the decompression of spaces when shopping or walking that can announce spaces through texture, smell, light, temperature.

The courtyard as a dialogue.

The different light chimneys of the building allow us to welcome the city from the tangential circulations, to direct it towards the interior, to protect it from the rain, to build an "exterior-interior" walkable space or a patio that regulates the building's climate. It is interesting to capture the direct light from the exterior and project it indirectly to the interior, allowing uses, schedules and circulations in the daily life of the center.

Wraps as braided textures.

The boundary bordering the exterior is built on tactile and living elements that stimulate the

perception. Light filtering elements. Understanding matter here not as a simple substance of tectonic character, but as a relationship between different subjects -among them, intangibles- such as light, air, temperature.

A double skin system. Vegetable elements - recycled straws and/or wood, vine shoots from the seasonal pruning promoted by the municipality of Alcanar - will serve as the basis for the wrapping. Complex sensations are pursued with simple, cheap and understandable mechanisms.
